Contract for Keith Knipling
My Contribution to the Scientific Visualization Team:
- Scan and enhance images
- Provide a clickable map (working with Christiana) of a lead-tin phase diagram to reinforce Beth's Section. The clickable map will use a specific concentration (to be determined later depending on what microscopic photographs Allen can come up with and what Beth wants to do).
- Help in the "scanning" and "clickable maps" section of the Scientific Visualization Tutorial.
Here are the images I am responsible for:
About the tutorial
Since the primary purpose of the sci-viz team is to provide graphical resources for the other groups, there will not be much to the sci-viz homepage (other than images). However, James and Keith thought it may be a good idea, in order to display all the hard work we will have put into this project, to write up a manual--or tutorial--explaining what was involved in preparing the visual material in our project on phase diagrams. This will accomplish several things:
- It will actually allow us to have a homepage other than pictures.
- It will make Kriz happy since this is kind of "above and beyond" the original scope of the project.
- By writing up what each of us did, this will sort of be a primer for writing the paper explaining what we did for the project (kind of like killing 2 birds with 1 stone).
- And most importantly, it will provide instruction for generations to come.
