MSC.Patran 2001 requires a larger amount of work and explanation and is not recommended for the creation of the geometry. MSC.Patran is what I used to create most of my geometry, which is why I have a tutorial for it here. MSC.Patran is designed as a front end program for programs like MSC.Nastran which evaluates the stresses, torsions, etc. in the object you created. You can select materials, material properties, temperatures, and many many more. MSC.Patran is a good program for what it is designed to do. I am using MSC.Patran to create the geometry only, which only uses a fraction of MSC.Patran's features and is only usefully in this instance if the node and mesh placement is crucial. Be forewarned that MSC.Patran 2001 does not have an undo function. If you mess up your design you must manually delete what you want.
