Len indicated that considerable interest in Congressional circles has been generated for Virginia Tech's obtaining federal funding of around $10 million for equipment for our ACITC Bldg. Prospects, according to Len, are good for this funding. Len indicated that there is critical need to quickly generate an equipment list. The list will be needed by the latter part of next week. Would you please take the lists you already have generated, add to the list what you feel is necessary, and get the lists to Ken Reifsneider (mrl@vt.edu) by Wednesday, 4/15, next week? Len indicated that specificity WAS NOT NEEDED. Just the type of equipment needed, its estimated cost and its envisioned use. Moreover, you should bundle equipment into groups amounting to $20K-$50K or more. For example, "10 high performance computers @ $20K each--- $200,000." Clearly, the items of the greatest value, such as the CAVE, should be included. While we are seeking items or groups of items of value $20K-$50K or more, don't necessarily omit all items of small value. We may be able to insert those items within equipment groups provided by others or bundle several such items together. All the best, John Fulton. John D.
