Welded Chain: The welded chain shown in figure 1 is made of 6 links of 5 different metals. The links from left to right are carbon steel (Fe-C), Stainless Steel (Ni-Cr-Fe), Inconel (also Ni-Cr-Fe), Copper-Nickel (Cu-Ni), Nickel-Copper (Ni-Cu), and Inconel. The links of the chain are made from 1" schedule 80 piping. The schedule 80 designator means the pipe is designed to hold up to 80,000 psi. 1/8" slices of the pipe were cut and then slots were cut into the rings. The rings were hooked together and then rewelded. The chain was made by Andrew Johnson
