How to transfer a Vega application from a desktop
system to the CAVE
-
Transfer your files to the CAVE Onyx. In addition to you application
program, you'll need the Vega ADF file.
Note: when creating your program and ADF files, make all the file locations
are relative to the program's top-level directory.
-
Recompile your applicaton. This isn't needed if you are using the
Vega-supplied "simple" or "vega" programs to drive your application.
-
Run lynx and load your ADF file, then do the following:
-
From the "File->Active modules" menu entry, select "Vega
Immersive". Click on "Apply" and then "Done".
-
Click on the "Vega Immersive" button. From the Vega Immersive
panel, do the following:
-
specify /usr/local/PSI/data/vgimmersive/icf/vt_cave_trackd_flock.icf
as your "Immersive Config File"
-
Click on the "Players" button and do the following:
-
Specify "motion model" as the position method
-
Enable the player. Pick the model "CAVE pos"
-
Click on the "Observers" button and do the following:
-
Specify "tethered fixed" as the motion model, tethered to the
Player "CAVE pos"
-
Click on the "Vega Immersive" button and do the following:
-
in attachments, specify the Player "CAVE pos"
-
choose "Default" as the observer for eyepoint
-
Save the ADF file with the "File->Save" menu entry
-
Run your applcation as usual.
An example ADF that runs in the CAVE can be found in /usr/local/PSI/sample/cave/marine.adf
