About the Java Plug-in
When the Java plug-in is installed, the applets in this site use the Java virtual machine written by Sun Microsystems. This virtual machine provides much better performance than the default VM's provided by Netscape or Microsoft. Also, by using JDK 1.2 these applets are able to take advantage of more sophisticated graphics features. Loading the plug-in will not affect the behavior of applets on other sites which are not written specifically to use the plug-in.
