Scientific Visual Data Analysis and Multimedia
Class Project Guidelines & Requirements

Grade:

1. Homework:         20% Five visualization homework assignments
2. Project:          40% Multimedia module
3. Written Report:   10% Written report (10-15 pages)
4. Mosaic Summary:   10% One page Mosaic summary of class project
5. Final Exam:       20% Presentation (20 min.) of project

Note: Items 2-5 will be graded 50% R.D. Kriz and 50% Jason Lockhart.

Project Contract (one page):

Project Option: You can form a team of three people. In this case the class project will be graded as a team effort and each team member will recieve the same grade. The team must choose a team member for the presentation. Although the project will be graded as a single team effort (40% Multimedia module/ 20% Presentation), the contract will outline the level of responsibility of each team member.

Grading Criteria

• (50%): The organization and presentation of information in the final format on the PC or Macintosh computer using authoring tools such as Macromedia: Director or Authorware. Presentation guidelines will be set by Jason Lockhart. An example of a class project is included on the VCR tape provided.

• (30%): How well you meet your contract objectives.

• (20%): Visual insights or new methodologies were communicated by your project. For example, if the focus of your project was educational, did the project communicate information in a creative and insightful manner?

Note: Your contract CAN BE MODIFIED because of unpredictable circumstances, such as hardware or software bugs, illness, etc. Please contact either R.D. Kriz AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we can work with you to modify your contract objectives that will be used in Grading Criteria.
