CONCLUSIONS

1. Better visualization of strain.

Combining the experimental data with finite element data provides for a chance to view strains places other than the measured locations, such as the faceplate and end cap, instead of just the measured locations.

While more modes may not provide for a better simulation of the strain experienced during a blast, it is possible that including more experimental data in the analysis would provide a better view of the strain measured during an explosion.

2. Have we achieved our goals set out in our contracts?

We have created a movie to help view the strains experienced by the blast cylinder.

Jul created the time data using the mode shapes from the IDEAS model and modal analysis

Wes created the ANSYS model that was used to animate the provided time data.
